The interest rate tracks the Bank of England base rate and can change over time. You can find the base rate here.
Interest accrues daily and is paid into your Tax Pot monthly on the first calendar day of the following month.
AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate and shows what you could earn over a year if interest was paid and compounded annually.
Yes, because the interest rate on your tax pot is variable and tracks the Bank of England base rate. If the Bank of England changes the base rate, your tax pot interest rate will update within 24 hours.
We may also change the rate by adjusting the margin applied to the base rate. If we reduce the rate, we’ll give you at least 14 days notice. If we increase the rate, the change will take effect immediately.
We’ll always let you know about changes to the interest rate in the app and by email.
At 1.2% AER (variable), £1,000 would earn £12 in interest over 12 months, giving a total balance of £1,012.
This example assumes the interest rate doesn’t change and that no additional deposits or withdrawals are made during the year.
Yes, you can withdraw money from your tax pot at any time. but withdrawals may not reach your account until the next working day.
Withdrawals are free and you can make them in the app.
